About the Studio
Gerald Posley is an artist working across drawing, sculpture, and digital media. His practice is rooted in sustained studio process and an ongoing investigation of pressure, restraint, and intimacy—both physical and psychological.
Drawing-based and materially driven, Posley’s work engages the body as a site of tension and presence rather than display. Using graphite, oil stick, colored pencil, charcoal, and sculptural form, he explores how masculinity, vulnerability, and power are constructed, held and revealed over time, often in dialogue with classical traditions of figure-making.
Digital processes are used alongside hand-drawn and sculptural methods as an extension of the studio rather than a replacement for it. Across mediums, the work privileges surface, erasure, repetition, and resistance—allowing images to emerge slowly through discipline and refusal rather than immediate resolution. His work has been exhibited in group and solo contexts.
